Phil Lumbang x The Standard
December 11th, 2009 by ThinkCONTRA
For the next two months, visitors to the Standard Hotel, Downtown LA will be greeted by artist Phil Lumbang’s cartoon bear on the 6th street wall. Lumbang and his “awesome bears” illustrations has been a staple on the Downtown LA art scene. Initially the artist created the bear images for a woman he was trying to woo, in doing so he realized that he had a passion for drawing the little fur balls. In 2009 he made his first print starring the characters he created and with growing public interest began forming the murals.
