Industry insiders gathered on V-Day to fete the opening of Opening Ceremony at The Ace Hotel in NYC. There couldn’t be a better combo- Alex Calderwood’s Ace Hotel meeting Humberto Leon/Carol Lim’s OC is sure to cause a flock of faithful followers. The OC store will have all sorts of “anti-souvenirs”- everythign from “British Walker potato chips and Haribo gummy candies to Japanese toothpaste and Criterion DVDs, and of course a selection of threads.” As for the party? WWD described it, saying, “where the Opening Ceremony crew goes, the cool squad tends to follow, so a stream of black leather, plaid and fur-covered kids headed to the not terribly fashionable Flatiron area.” The cool kids in attendance included everyone like Alexander Wang (OC’s in-house favourite [and mine]), Chloe Sevigny, Terry Richardson, Olivier Zahm and a whole lot more. Dinner followed at The Breslin- now just picture Kirsten Dunst chowing down on “fried chicken, suckling pig, mashed potatoes and warm biscuits.” Best visual. And, no party would be complete without the music. The crowd headed downstairs to the hotel’s basement club for a live performance by The Dirty Projectors and DJ Solange Knowles (yeah, who knew?). Dunst danced up a storm right outside the VIP area, while Terence Koh, in a self-described “Where the Wild Things Are” monster suit, moved closer to the stage. Opening Ceremony always offer wearable and affordable collections which mix heritage and classic in one. This season they offer a wider selection of garments ranging from knits, button ups, tweed pants, cardigans and head wear. This fall/winter 2010 is probably the biggest collection so far.
Full collection after the jump.
A killer colloboration of Zac Posen and Pamela Love. Said to be inspired by Alice and Wonderland, these things look more lethal than the Venus Flytrap. But, all too cool to resist. Ranging from $215 to $625, you can pick up one of these via Opening Ceremony.
Alexander Wang is truly my number one- he just never fails to impress. I mean, ever. Came across these belts on the Opening Ceremony website and pretty much died. The cool combo on calf leather and hardware is simply amazing. The “moc croc” belt on the left is a simple way to Wang-up any fall outfit. Definite must-have this season- that is if you’re into shelling out a whopping $475 for it. One can dream though, right?

Oh- and one more piece of lust-worthy Wang eye-candy: this hooded leather jacket with fur. I die. Only $2900. No big deal.
Opening Ceremony has another cool collaboration to add to their all-star lineup- this time with footwear-favourite, Keds. A play on “seventies British punk subculture,” Opening Ceremony has decked these babies out in wild animal-prints. In the spirit of the whole “Where The Wild Things Are” craze, these killer kicks could not come at a better time. A bit over-priced at $125, they’re definitely a cool alternative than your ordinary white Keds. Coming to an OC near you this December- that is if you live in New York, Tokyo or LA. Sorry.

Opening Ceremony is always on my radar and I almost died when I saw their latest collaboration with Spike Jonze. Inspired by his latest film, Where the Wild Things Are, -which may I add cannot contain my excitement about- Opening Ceremony has created a limited edition collection that features faux fur for both men and women. By far, the most amazing (and hilarious) piece is Max’s iconic one-piece playsuit – complete with furry-eared hood and raccoon tail. But wait- it gets better! Jewelley designer extrodaniare, Pamela Love, even created a couple of unreal accessories- my personal favourite being the cool cuff and claw.
You NEED to see this to believe it.
